Early
3D engine screenshots
Each of these screenshots
was produced with the still intact versions of some
of the earlier incarnations of my now infamous 3D
engine. Although most of these depict all there is
to be seen in each demo, it's still probably worth
giving them a download, since the source code could
prove instructive to those hoping to put together
their own, and you'll also get some idea of the sophistication
of the engine by how smoothly it runs. Particularly
of interest are the most recent 3D demos, showing
the old texture mapping and perspective defining algorithms,
in comparisson with the newer 3D engine now available
for download.

A
screenshot of the earliest engine. An early attempt
at shading the blocks is demonstrated, as well
as a rather nice generalised dialogue box system
that I used for the demo. The dodgy perspective
is even in evidence here. |

A number of images
taken from the 3D cube demo I used to test the
engine and early texture mapper whilst working
on it. The textures look pretty good here, but
note they are always upright. |

This engine was
put into effect in my early attempts at a space
shooter. The stars and planets scroll behind,
whilst the spaceship depicted moves in 3D space.
Despite the profound flaws in the engine, it looks
pretty good here. |

The most recent
incarnation of the engine, previous to the new
version. This shows off the differential lighting
palette, as well as the improved (but not yet
accurate) texture mapping algorithm, as well as
more convincing perspective. |
