On this page I will attempt
to give some idea of the graphical variety of Trooper
II, most of it sourced from my eclectic and altogether
unpredicatable imagination. The images chosen I think
best demostrate the game and all its functions, as well
as the menu system and level editor. If you want to
see yet more images, I suggest you either download the
game and have a look for yourself, or see the other
pages comprising this section, since each one has a
small screenshot attatched to it. I've decided on using
reasonably small images, since little quality is lost
and it saves on physical and server space, allowing
me to give you more of them. Most of the images are
taken from actual levels shipped with the game: see
if you can find where each one was taken.
| The menu
screen- I originally planned for the background
to be randomly generated, but it proved unreliable. |
|
| The first
thing the wary player is confronted with when
the game is started. Doesn't look too bad
yet? Just wait... |
|
| A wide
shot of the training level, of which I have
had several complaints of it being too challenging.
Well yeah, you can blow yourself up... |
|
| There
are around 10 different animated ways Fred
can die, and the game engine allows for amusing
combinations, such as burning while shot. |
|
| There
are 6 different strains of monster in the
game, from the harmless to the frightening,
such as this flying bomber. |
|
| There
are over one hundren graphical images and
four backgrounds, that can be placed in the
game on a click in the level editor. |
|
| Over
20 different object types are integrated into
the game, and can be arranged in any combination
required by the player in the level editor.
|
|
| A sophisticated
and extensively tested AI controls most of
the in game monsters, allowing each player
to employ their unique approach to fooling
the guards. |
|
| The integrated
level editor. Levels can be tested as they
are designed, and the editor is capable of
handling extremely large or complex levels. |
|
| Included
are two bosses, Live and Bill Gates.
Gates is armed with an uzi, and uses a complex
algorithm to chase you around the final level.
It's very sinister. |
|
| The game
engine is fast enough to handle hundreds of
moving objects in one level, making the game
extremely frantic and quickly paced at times. |
|
| At
other points, skill and stealth will lead
you past the guards more surely. Fred can
sneak past when their backs are turned, and
hide in scenery. |
