The History of Queen Victoria
Queen Victoria was born at Kensington Palace, London. She was born on the 24th, May , 1819 and Victoria died on the 22nd January, 1901 when she was eighty-one years old. She died at Osborne house.
When Victoria was eighteen she became ruler of England because her uncle had died. Some people say she was glad to get away from her mother (she made her work hard.)
She had a gift of painting and drawing. The queen carried a diary for all times and very special events.
Queen Victoria was married to her cousin Prince Albert to keep the royal blood in the family. They married on the 10th of February in1840.
Victoria had nine children altogether which was quite alot compares to how many children people have today. She gave birth to her first daughter. Her mum was the Dowager Princess of Saxe-Coburg, Princess Victoire. Her grandfather was Henry the eighth. Her grandfather was King George III.
Albert died when Victoria was only 42. She never got married again or had another child. She remained in mourning for a long time after his death.
Victoria was ruler for sixty years and celebrated her diamond jubilee in 1897.She was the most famous monarch in the world because she had been queen for more years than any other monarch that had ever lived. Today she is still the monarch that has ruled longer than any other. She had many relatives in royal families all over Europe that were proud of her!
Victoria died 22nd of January, 1901. Her son Edward the 7th replaced her on the throne. Edward belonged to the house of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. When Victoria died there was an end to the rule of the Hanover house in the United Kingdom.Edward died nine years later in 1910.
'Oh, Albert', was the queen's dying words before she died. She was buried at Frogmore near Windsor beside the coffin and remains of her dead, long, lost husband, Prince Albert. Before the Queen died she ordered her men to make the funeral white and not black .Everyone obeyed her strict instructions. It was a snowy day when the Queens funeral took place.
