Tortoises

Intro

My tortoise was two years old and now it is three years old . A tortoise can live for a very long time. There is not a lot of tortoises in Scotland and you can not buy them a lot any more.

History

I have had my tortoise for a year and a bit the first time I got it was very good .Before I got it I had a guinea pig and it died a couple of weeks after I got it then I got a tortoise . When I got it was very scared because it had never been at my house before.

What they are like

A tortoise carries a shell on their back to stop the wind and the rain from making it slide on there back .If a tortoise is in danger they pull there head and its legs into its shell.

Where to get one

I got my tortoise in Elgin pet shop but you can get them at a lot more places like of Aberdeen and you can not likely get a lot of tortoise in scotland but you can get a lot of then in Spain

How to look after them

In my tortoise house there are some little stones and you put them in it and you have to give them some toy to play with. My tortoise has got a big wooden thing that they can hide in.

Food

Most tortoise does well with a mixture of greens like spinach, green lettuce , kale , collards , dandelions , vegetables carrots , green beans , pumpkin , squash , flowers (dandelion) and fruits apples , prickly and pears.
