Bletchley Park

by K & A Grayson

As this was now mid September, this was our last Bletchley Park event for 2005.
Today we had plenty to do, entertain the public and clear the lake of our course ready for the winter. The day started the usual way, setting the marquee up along with the gazebo. Bringing the safety boat down to the lake ready for the day.

Once the Marquee was up, we then quickly filled this with our display of model boats.

The Enigma reunion was for all the WWII Veterans to reunite together and talk about their past years and their lives today.

After the press photo call the Veterans congregated to listen to the brass band in the band tent.

Meanwhile on the lake some of our members took in the sailing course while others sailed their boats.

Surprisingly the sailing on the water went without any accidents or mishaps, which was quite unusual for our members. We had plenty of quality sailing, we even got a visit from some passing Germans.

As the day went on it was time for the Cadets to show off some of their training to the Veterans.

Finally it was time to close up the event with a “Wartime sing-a-long” which went down very well with the Veterans.

This was now our time to pack away all of our boats, marquee and gazebo, along with taking our safety boat back to its winter storage room.

As the sailing season has just now ended for our club, we had an enjoyable day sailing our boats.
