West Hollywood 2003

Despite only using West Hollywood as a base to recover from the flight from London, we still managed to fit in a lot in our 12 hours or so in the city.

We stayed at the delightful Summerfield Suites, just off Santa Monica Boulevard on West Mount Drive. Look for the "webrates" or other special offers for amazing offers. Unusually for a city-centre hotel, a buffet breakfast is included in the rate, although James spilt most of his breakfast all over the terrace. He then chose to introduce American families to the choicest words from the English Language!

A bus from the corner of La Cienga and Santa Monica whisks passengers to the Chinese Theatre for 25 cents. There we checked out the handprints and signatures outside the theatre as well as walked part of the Walk of Fame.

The evening saw us in a restaurant in Santa Monica Boulevard before propping up the bar of the Abbey.

The following morning, before leaving for the bright lights of Las Vegas, we conducted our own Star's Homes Tour, with the aid of addresses downloaded from the web. Try http://www.seeing-stars.com/Live/BeverlyHills.shtml for a very comprehensive list by name, street or district.

It was then time to join Interstate 15 for the long journey across the Mohave Desert to Las Vegas.
