Leo's father Giuseppe (known as Tony) was brought to Scotland when his parents emigrated from Picinisco in Italy. Leo's mother Lidia (nee Notarianni) was born in Edinburgh to a Scottish mother and an ex-Italian father from Valleretonda in Italy. An elder sister Bianca and younger brother Adrian completed the immediate family.
