Twice in recent years the town
has been visited by the Sealed
Knot Society who, with over 5,000
members, re-enact battles and conflicts of the English Civil War.
The only time in the former history
of Stony Stratford that there would
have been that many people in the town would have been during the actual civil war itself when 11,000 Parliamentarian troops were to be billeted here on June 10th.1645 whilst on their way to the Battle of Naseby which was fought on June 14th and bought the war to an end. |
