Surrounded by trees the Green

is an attractive tree-lined area

of grass that lies within the town.

Over the years it has seen many

events. Its name reveals its early

purpose but in recent times it has

become the venue for the town's

major events. "Folk on the Green"

is an annual music festival that

takes place in June and August

bank-holiday brings the town fair.

The War Memorial for the town is

at the western end and the Baptist

Chapel which was built in 1823 is

on the north side.
