THE NEW MILL COMPLEX

Burnt down in November 1985

the mill was one of the town's

most prominent buildings giving

the millfield its name. The old

mill race still exists as a quiet,

tree-lined backwater to the main
river. The site which has had a

mill since before Domesday is

now occupied by a residential
complex of similar architecture

to that of the destroyed building.
