| When an accident happens or a serious
illness strikes there is often a quick and successful
treatment for it. In many cases including orthopaedic
conditions such as serious fractures, spine surgery as
well as MRI scans and cancer therapy the treatment allows
a complete recovery just like or even better than human
medicine. However, sometimes these cases require referral to centres of excellence such as the Cambridge Vet School . In the past year the costs of referrals have escalated so enormously (thousands of pounds in some cases) that unless insured the owners face a grave dilemma. If the life saving treatment cannot be afforded then either the animal suffers unnecessarily with the treatment coming too little too late or the pet has to be put to sleep.
