Modern Machynlleth - between past and future.
The Sixties coupled modern tastes with an insensetivity to history, but were perhaps no more brutal in this way than any other age. Consider for example the building now occupied by the Job Centre, in the context of the other buildings in Maengwyn Street.
Other more recent buildings have arisen in the town, that from whatever intentions represent not genuine design but humbug and pastiche - appearing neither period nor modern.
But we have also gained buildings that are genuinely contemporary, notably the first buildings on the Dyfi Eco Parc [Julian Bishop / Peter Holden (now Acanthus Holden) Architects].
