BOATS
Loch Ken is the ideal centre to enjoy all water sports - windsurfing, sailing, rowing, canoeing and water skiing. The loch is zoned for the different activities. A system of registration for all motorised craft is in force.
All motorised boats must
be
registered before launching.
Registration Fees
These are due for all motor boats on the Loch and
payable to the Dumfries and Galloway Council. Visitors to Loch Ken Holiday
Park can register in advance at the "Planning Services Office," 4 Market
Street, Castle Douglas (Tel. 01556 502351). Registration can otherwise be
done at the Park Shop. Owners of motor boats are strongly advised to
have their own third party insurance.

FISHING
Recently we
have seen a remarkable growth in coarse fishing and Loch Ken enjoys a good
reputation among anglers, particularly on account of the pike, roach and
perch which have been caught here. Catches in recent seasons indicate an
increase in the size of fish being taken. Game fishing has also taken
place at Loch Ken over many years, including fishing for trout and
salmon.
Anyone fishing our stretch at the Loch Ken Holiday Park may
only have two lines maximum in the water at any one time. Other rods,
although not actually fishing, must not occupy pegs on the
bank.
All rubbish including discarded fishing tackle, especially
line & hooks must be gathered up and put in the bins provided. Bottles
and cans must be put in the recycling bins which are also provided on the
park.
Unless you intend to eat them, fish should be returned to the water in a healthy state .

Prices for 2008 - Fishing permits are available at the Shop, or in advance by sending a cheque to Loch Ken Holiday Park. Fishing is not allowed without a permit. The permits we issue are for our frontage only, or anywhere on the loch if fishing from a boat.
