Telemark Racing Success for Club Coach

Chris Stewart, final year university student and club telemark coach, has had a particularly successful introduction to telemark racing this January.

He competed in the Army/Combined Services British Telemark Championships held 3^rd – 15^th January 2009 at Ruaris, Austria, achieving 4^th position within the Giant Slalom, and 8^th in the Sprint Classic. Chris then came 3^rd in the main event, The Classic.

As a result of his success Chris received an immediate invitation from the GB Telemark Team to represent his Country at the World Championships event held the following week, 21^st – 24^th January 2009, at Kreischberg, Austria.

Chris competed in 2 events. He came 57^th out of 100 starters in the Giant Slalom and was ranked 3^rd best GB competitor out of a team of 7. In the Sprint Classic Chris came 55^th overall and was ranked the highest GB competitor.

As a result of these successes Chris has now been invited to attend the GB Telemark selection event to be held in Austria this May.
