Places to
Visit The area offers the tourist a multitude of attractions. Dumfries & Galloway has 32 golf courses, eighteen of them 18-hole courses and fourteen 9-hole. You can play serious golf or just a few rounds of holiday golf to your heart's content. Off the course, you'll find a warm welcome in the clubhouse or the local pubs and restaurants. There are numerous cycle trails and the National Cycle Network traverses the region taking in more than 130 miles of stunning scenery, rugged coastline and vast forests. There is also the National Byway and a large number of off road tracks. Low Arvie is situated on the 7 Stanes world class biking trail. We are only a short drive from the historic 15th century Drumlanrig Castle , one of Scotland's principal visitor attractions, offering castle tours and guided walks. Explore the castle, the surrounding 120,000 acre Queensberry Estate, Country Park and grand Victorian garden for a great day out. An exciting new bird watching opportunity to view spectacular red kites in lovely scenery is on our doorstop at the beautiful Loch Ken, where the Galloway Red Kite Trail is now attracting the attention of walkers, cyclists, wildlife lovers and birdwatchers in Dumfries and Galloway and from much further afield. The kites are plentiful and can be seen feeding every day. Other attractions include the Castle Douglas Food Town and Kirkcudbright Artists' Town |

Our BookComing to Low Arvie was a fulfilment of a dream. A dream of a farm, a
small piece of land we could call our own, where we could live out the
second half of our lives in harmony with nature and at peace with the world,
perhaps to grow corn
How we came to do this and the journey it involved is chronicled in Linda's newly published book "The Ladies of Low Arvie". If you come to stay, you can purchase a copy at a price of £10. Alternatively please send a cheque, payable to Linda Watson, for £12.50 (to cover postage and packing) to the address above - please ensure you include your return address.
