Born in Durham City, I now live in the Scottish Borders, where the rural countryside provides plenty of inspiration for my paintings. With a love for close observation of the natural world, its exciting forms, vivid colours and textures are hopefully reflected in my work using both watercolour and a range of mixed media. My photography is an important tool which helps supplement my work, from simple reference to more creative elements.

I’ve enjoyed tutoring my own regular local classes in flower painting and general illustration for over nine years now, with great commitment from students.

My stylistic influences include medieval paintings, the Pre-Raphaelites and the decorative arts, with an abiding attraction for the embellished surface.

Commissioning clients have included publishing houses, editorial
groups, design companies, local authorities and private individuals,
with every care taken to ensure client satisfaction.

Most of my work is located in Scotland, UK, although some has found its
