LaBastide d’Armagnac is a medieval bastide in Les Landes , Department 40.  
(The Bas Armagnac is a prime area for the well-known brandy.) This is
one of the prettiest villages in Gascony, with everything you need for daily life:

 the annual Armagnac festival at the end of October
an annual art competition for “Painters in the Street”   
 the autumnal arrival of the flocks of sheep and goats on their traditional route
       from the Pyrenees to the winter pasture
a Christmas fair
an arts and crafts fair in the summer.
