The locals request you park in the car park at the S side of the ford, not by the hairpin bend. There is no need to follow the track round the far side of the quarry, a grassy path (through bracken) cuts this off. See the photo (12.20) for the best route to the top, going right underneath the crags for the easiest ascent.
