I spent a futile hour & a half trying to get to the trig point from the clearer area on the east, making a few forays into the older trees, but the way was always blocked by fallen trees. Droping further down and west got to clearer forest but the area near the top seemed impenetratable. So I gave up and later checked the internet to find Alan's route from the NW. Driving round to the large parking area at NX721752, a fire break a bit further NE up the track leads to an unmarked track at the base of the higher trees running parallel to the forest track (this is a useful target in descent). Just left is an obvious route upwards which crosses another unmarked track and a bit of further ascent leads to the summit clearing. Finding the route in descent is tricky, but you hit the two tracks at some point.
