Rebecca Jann Tiffany

19th August 2003 - Happy 0th Birthday!

After Marie experienced some leakage, we went in to hospital at 4pm on Monday 18th August to be checked over. We thought it would be a false alarm - how wrong we were!

Once it was confirmed that her waters had broken, we were kept in, and labour started around 7:30 (with some assistance). It only really got going after about 11pm, but by 2:30am on the 19th it was time for an epidural. (The anaesthetist is now Marie's best friend!). The epidural gave a couple of hours respite, allowing us some sleep, but by 5pm things were getting going again.

After much pushing, shoving, grunting, but surprisingly little swearing, Rebecca Jann Tiffany was born at 07:37 on the 19th August 2003, weighing 6 pounds and 14 ounces (3.1 kg). She has a full head of dark hair, and according to the midwives she (unfortunately?) seems to have much of my face, although she does have Marie's mouth. (I still say all babies look like Winston Churchill!)

So far (6 hours in!), she's been very well behaved indeed - very little crying, and she only just dropped off to sleep as I come home from the hospital to get food, write this, and get some kip! She's already started feeding, and both mother and baby are doing fine. They should both be fast asleep by now, which is what I'll be doing by the time you read this!

June 2003

The nursery is fully equipped, and we're ready to go! While there is a Winnie the Pooh theme, we do not intend to have only Winnie the Pooh equipment, even if it does look that way from the photo!

Week 20 (1st April 2003)

Once again, baby tried it's hardest to avoid having it's vital dimensions measured, but in the end we prevailed. And no, we don't know (and don't want to know) the sex! Although with no girls in four generations of Tiffanys, it's probably a boy!

Size: Head is now 6cm in diameter

Orientation: Head is on the left, face up, with skull and skin clearly visible on the face. Left arm appears to be scratching it's head (again!). Ribs can just about be seen in the body.

Orientation: Head is on the right, face up, lungs and spine can be seen in the body.

Week 12 (3rd February 2003)

The first scan, and the baby was already seen to be kicking out at the unwanted presence of a probe imposing itself upon it's personal space.

Size: Head to Bottom is 6cm

Orientation: Whole of baby is visible in this shot, with the head on the right, facing up, and the left arm behind it's head. Crossed legs and umbilical cord can be seen at the bottom of the body.
