About GTV

GTV identGTV (Gael Television) is the Network Six broadcaster for North West Scotland and the Highlands, and began broadcasting on 22 May 2006. GTV aims to provide a service of the highest quality, with a rich mix of regional and networked programmes to offer you the greatest choice of programming in an extremely professional, local manner. We broadcast each day between 9.25am, taking over from breakfast broadcaster Six:AM, and we'll take you through right until 6:25am the following morning. GTV is entireley produced locally within the region until midnight.

GTV is part of Emoa Television; a Network Six broadcaster which also operates the North East England franchise, production arm and broadcast facilities

  • GTV aims to broadcast around 8-10 hours of regional programming each week, of which 10% in the Scottish Gaelic language, working in partnership with teleG
  • GTV's flagship news programme, GTV Tonight, airs nightly on weekdays for 30/60 minutes at 6pm, with regular shorter bulletins throughout the day and weekends
  • Our off-air regional identity is prominent throughout the region, with our teams regulary getting involved with local events, alongside regional advertising of GTV's programmes on boards etc throughout the area.
  • Advertising regionally on GTV produces a more efficient way for local businesses to promote their products, targeting their specific catchment area, without having to go to larger national agencies.

GTV is based in its Gael Studios in Oban. The Gael Studios site hosts many media facilities including two fully equipped production studios, which produce a variety of GTV regional programmes and also non-regional programmes The Lunchtime Programme and Lovelife. Emoa invested in the facility in Summer 2006 to allow such expanding.

We have a team of four highly professional continuity announcers, informing and directing our viewers throughout the day, seen as the "voice of GTV".

GTV's current on-air identity, produced by Emoa Neptune, focuses on beauty within Scottish life, with the signature colours of black and purple. From midnight to 6.25am, the syndicated "Network Six" service is broadcast in place of regional services, however the regional programme Jobfinder is aired at 5.30am.

Up until 1 November 2006, GTV was known as Emoa TV Gael.
