Christening Robe 14

Bodice made up from machine made lace, put together with hand worked feather stitch.
Sleeves gathered into a machine (?) lace band possibly ca 1850.
Beautiful skirt in Ayrshire needlework. Skirt very worn and holes in places.
Trails and sprays quite flamboyant placed quite high up panel. Variety of fillings in large flower centres. Open design with arcs of sprays. Edging of embroidered eyelets and sprigs. Wings outward: shallow scallops made up of smaller scallops. Eyelets follow design. Thistle-style motif in each shallow scallop each with a variation of filling. Scalloping goes all around edge of hem.
