Christening Robe 2

Made by Mrs. Elizabeth Owen for John Owen (1870-1942). John married in 1897 and had 7 sons. Lived in Riccarton. Elizabeth Owen was grandmother of Elizabeth Owen of 89 Midton Road, Ayr. Piece supposed to be late 1890s.
Bodice panel: eyelets, therefore possibly later; wings; bisexual. Sleeves also have small pointed wings.
The skirt panel: false wings – two-dimensional representation of wings as part of embroidered design, with scalloped edge etc. Trailing from top to bottom becoming denser toward hem. Sprays and sprigs and seeding. Scalloped hem. 5 darnings near hem.
