Bodice: Ladderings and eyelets. Design asymmetrical. Wings also embroidered
and edged with pointed scallops. Cap sleeves decorated with poppyheads and two
frills. Scalloped edging.
Bisexual.
Junction skirt/bodice decorated with seeding (single thread)/ beading
(multi-thread).
Skirt panel: No needlepoint fillings.
Very fine embroidery - trailing from near bodice to denser lower panel. Exuberant rococo-style design around central medallion. Laburnum and marigolds and daisy-type flowers and ferny leaves. Laddering. Above hem backstitch grid in squares around single eyelet.
Wings: Pointed scallop edging with single eyelet. Lower wing densely embroidered with laburnum and marigolds. Eyelets and satin stitch.
Later addition of lace bands, possibly turn of the century when fashionable, to lower hem of skirt panel and as insertions into skirt for 6" above hem.
