Christening Robe 9

From Sam Alexander of 'Marchbank', Fenwick in late 1980s.
Made ca 1920; machine made insertions as bands. Very small amount of hand feather stitching on neckband.
Bodice: square with horizontal tucks moving directly into squared-off skirt panel again tucked horizontally in bands of seven with machine lace insertions and lower down lace frills. Wings from back waist over shoulder to hem. Two tucks all around hem of skirt. Puff sleeves with lace edging, also to neck
