QUIZ NIGHT: On a chill Winter's eve, fifty of the best brains of Shaftesbury, Gillingham, Sturminster and points between gathered at the British Legion Hall in Shaftesbury to pit their wits against the worst that the machiavellian quiz master, Neil Fishlock could devise!
Did you know the first tune ever played on Radio One in 1961? Someone did! How many drummers drumming? How many beech trees along Badbury Rings?
The pace and difficulty gradually increased as the wine flowed and the scores mounted with ferocious competition between the stars of yesteryear and the upstarts from the provinces.
There was a splendid interlude when gorgeous food was provided by Jan and Terry Piper and Clare Huxley was an excellent commere.
More rounds of ding dong questions before the exciting finale when the winning team was declared (after an unforgettable recount) composed of those magnificent people from Sturminster, ably abetted by Michael.
It was a splendid and profitable evening enjoyed by all!

SKITTLES: Everyone enjoyed themselves on our own skittles evening in October, though we would love to se more members next time. Meanwhile in the skittles competition we hosted on 6 December, Sherborne, Gillingham, Poole and Shaftesbury took part, with the honours all going to Gillingham. Looking forward to a return match soon.

BOULES: Many of our members have been playing Boules against other twin towns in Dorset. The tournament lasted 13 weeks; our thanks to members who took part in home and away fixtures. Hopefully we can finish higher in the rankings next year. The annual Boules challenge shield was won by the Poole Babes who overcame ten other teams to take the trophy. Well done!
