About 35 members attended the Annual General Meeting at the Guildhall on Friday 27 February. Our president, the Mayor of Shaftesbury, took the chair. A new committee was elected with one new member. Reports were heard from the Chairman and the Treasurer, describing a year with several disappointments, including two cancelled visits and a cancelled presence at the Gold Hill Fair, but several social occasions which were much enjoyed. The Chairman presented the Association's Rose Bowl to Amanda Hodgson who received it on behalf of her mother Judy, sadly now in hospital in Salisbury, for her magnificent work for the Association over many years.
After a break for refreshments we were entertained by Bill Moore, who gave us a fascinating account of the recovery of the Tudor warship, the Mary Rose, in which he himself had taken part as a diver. His slide show was complemented by an exhibition of replicas of objects found on board, bring a vivid sense of the everyday life of officers and seamen five hundred years ago.
