Joseph BUCKLEY 1762 ~ 1842

John BUCKLEY 1791 ~ 1873

No record of the birth of Joseph BUCKLEY has been located, but he is recorded in the 1841 Census as being of 79 years of age, and his burial record shows that he was 80 years of age in 1842, both records giving his birth to be in 1761 or 1762.

Joseph married Ann DOWNING at Bradfield Church on 1st January 1784.

At the age of about 64 he was awarded land in the Bradfield  Enclosure Award of 1826.

He died on 24th March 1842 and was buried at Bradfield on 28th March 1842.

Joseph and Ann  had 10 children:

Ann, born about 1785 and baptised at Bolsterstone Church on 27th March 1785, she married George DOWNING at Bradfield on 30th May 1803.

Joseph, was born about 1789, and baptised at Bolsterstone on 21st May of that year. Joseph married Helen and is believed to have become a baker in Manchester.

Jeremiah, was born about 1787 and baptised on 21st January 1787 at Bolsterstone. Jeremiah married Charlotte BROWN on 17th May 1813 at Manchester Cathedral. He died on 9th May 1856 and was buried at Bradfield on 22nd May 1856 aged 69. Jeremiah and Charlotte had four children, Mary, Joseph, Jeremiah George and George and possibly another daughter Eliza.  He was awarded land at Bradfield in the Enclosure Act of 1826                   .Jeremaih and Charlotte's Gravestone

John, was born about 1791 and baptised at Bolsterstone on 23rd October 1791. He married Ann BATTYE on 9th April 1811 at Manchester Cathedral. and died on 2nd February 1873. He was buried at Bradfield on 6th February aged 81.

The couple had 11 children:

Hannah, born about 1793,  was christened at Bolsterstone on 25th December 1793. She had a daughter Ellen born in 1816 whilst a spinster.

George, was born about 1798 and baptised at Bradfield on 27th September 1798. He died in 1798 and was buried at Bradfield on 6th June 1798.

Thomas, born in August 1799 and baptised at Bradfield on 25th August 1799,  died and was buried at Bradfield on 21st March 1802.

Sarah, born in 1801,  later married William Oxley.

Thomas was born in May 1803, he was baptised at Bradfield on 30th May 1803. He married Martha Allen on 24th December 1821 at Darton and they had six children, Jane, Charles, Henry, Martha, Maria, Emma and possibly Thomas.

William, born on 19th December 1805 and baptised at Bradfield on 19th January 1806,  married Mary IBBOTSON at Bradfield on 26th January 1829. William living at Bank House, died on 9th November 1863 and was buried at Bradfield on 11th Novenber 1863 aged 57.  William and Mary had at least thirteen children, Charles, Sarah, Jeremiah, William, George, James, Mary Ann, Elizabeth, John, Joseph, Alice, George Henry and John
