Fitting doors. I ground off the original plate where the striker mounts in order to fit the new one supplied by Marlin (original in wrong place)

Door with new striker plate in place. I bolted it on just in case....

Offside of rear tub bolted up

.

Filler cap. The crossed lines was where the molded pip on the tub indicated the centre of the filler should be. It was a bit out...
31/10/2007
Nearside of rear tub bolted up. I had to cut away some of the fibreglass inner wheel arc in order to get a snug fit on this side.
31/10/2007
Offside door as supplied. Needs to be twisted to fit better.
31/10/2007
Twisting the door. I used a couple of largish sash clamps top and bottom to give something to pull on. I also had to clamp to of the seems to stop them bowing out too much and splitting.
31/10/2007
Door after twisting. Much better fit.
31/10/2007
Door from above. Don't understand why the support for the dash top is tapered in like this.

A-panel after trimming
18/11/2007
Forming the return on the A-panel. The return stiffens the trailing edge which is very floppy without the return.
18/11/2007
Another shot of the A-panel

A-panel fitted

The Marlin supplied (left) and replacement hinge bolts. With the Marlin bolts the hinge pivoted on the thread of the bolt allowing a lot of slack. With the replacement bolts (stainless) the hinge pivots on the shank of the bolt and there is much less free play.

Ebay bargain. "M" type aftermarket steering wheel made by Momo. OK so it doesn't look great but it has the all important padded centre.

18/11/2007
Actually the looks are beginning to grow on me. Specially as it was only a tenner...

Another Ebay bargain - Raid boss for a fiver. You can clearly see the construction designed to collapse on impact. To the left is the BMW contact ring for the horn which fits inside the boss.

Nose prepared for fitting. This took a lot longer than expected particularly as the molding was a little "rough around the edges". I had to do quite a bit of filling on the rear edges where there was a gap between the gel coat an fiberglass matt.
