WAYS IN WHICH YOU CAN HELP

A brief history:-

Who would have thought fifteen years ago that two little black kittens given to me as a surprise birthday present would change my life completely!
Having become a cat lover at an early age and spending my childhood on a farm I always appreciated that life was not warm fires and comfortable laps for all cats. However until receiving these two gorgeous bundles of fur via the RSPCA I just did not realise the full extent of the cat problem in the West Dorset area.

Helping the RSPCA and Cats Protection for a number of years highlighted the feral and farm cat problem so I decided more needed to be done to help these unfortunate cats and founded Feral Cat Care - a registered charity -in May 1995.
Our aims are very simple - to reduce the number of feral cats, naturally, by neutering - to improve their quality of life, again by neutering and provision of food -to take into our care any sick, injured or elderly feral or farm cats - to take into our care young kittens to be tamed and homed as domestic pets.

We have three foster homes providing care for over 30 cats at present and are extremely fortunate that one of these homes is a stable. All of the cats in our care live quite freely, either for the rest of their natural life or until a suitable home can be found.
To achieve our aims and to provide care for the cats takes a great deal of financing. Our monthly veterinary and food bills are never less than £1,000 and during the busy kitten season are increased to £2,000.

We have fund-raising shops at Bridport. Dorchester and Portland which help fund these bills - however we can never relax regarding finance and Street collections, Coffee mornings and basically begging(!) brings in a proportion of our income. We run a membership at £8.50 per year or £85 for Life Membership. Also cat sponsorship at £15 per annum or £75 for the cat’s life - this helps fund the food, inoculations and veterinary expenses of a cat in our care.
We rely desperately on donations to carry out our work. If you would like to make a donation please send it to Feral Cat Care, Jasmine Cottage, Cemetery Road, Portesham, Weymouth, Dorset, DT3 4HA. Alternatively if you would like more information on the Charity's work, a Membership or Cat Sponsorship application form please telephone 01305 871656 (Answer Phone).
Feral Cat Care is a dedicated charity, committed to improve the quality of life for as many feral cats as possible. You may rest assured that any money you donate will be used to benefit these unfortunate disregarded cats.

Please help us.
