Beside The One I Love
Day Breaks Dull

Beside The One I Love

Beside the one I love the best
I stand,
And, with him, watch the rhythmic tide of life
Run,
Turn
And run again.
With him I feel a certain liberation,
They are there,
But I am not,
They live and die,
But I do not.
With him
All time is sweet, serene and structureless,
With him
All time is mellow meltedness.

Day Breaks Dull

Day breaks dull,
My pretty friend,
We are dipped in ash,
We are caught in the lull,
Trapped
In the airless realm of the bed,
In the cage, in the skull, in the aching head.
Unable to sleep,
Yet unable to rise,
Unable to reach blue-hopeful skies.
No wings,
Just useless, sordid things,
Old cups and saucers,
Books and bones,
Your open mouth,
Those roughly
Physical shuddering moans.
No hope, no home, no sea, no land.
We must lie again,
Lie again,
Hand in hand.
