The Waves
Another Sentiment 1st Part
I see it in the vague full moon
turning round and round the dark lit room
the presence of another, vaguely lifting,
carrying thoughts to other days.
Other days...other hours past the present,
past the now, to the then, the beginning, the end.
And all is vague, as vague as faded winters
or summers passing days, uprising the hours
spinning the inspire of another.
Another past, by red lit lamp through the wall.
The heart beats strong and fast, like racing drum
as if it will never calm again, nor find peace
from this, this vague reality.
Low the moon shines through crystal glass
and sparkles shadows near the edge of earth and sky.
And still the breeze dies to soft murmur
as I cast my eye, and cast my eye round and round
the cold dark room, afraid to look, to view
what might hide within these walls or from
the wardrobe pounce, its beastly interference.
Its ghastly ghost like presence.
The clock ticks fast to the rhythm of my heart.
Beats and runs faster than the drum.
My eyes afeared to look beneath the shadow.
Afraid to view, afraid to watch as the sound
hardens its tone, to that of vague whispers.
Or are they real, so real they mutate and drown
my calm peace - as fate has escaped, and senses run
passed that window down through the night-
lit sky and out, and out far away ‘neath
bracken
to some safe haven.
And I pray, and pray in silent tongue that they
will leave me, they will be feared by my silent
prayer
and leave me stilled and have mercy on my soul.
That I shall not fear their ghastly eyes that stare.
Yet, fear is in the full moon
turning round and round the dark lit room
the presence of another, vaguely lifting
carrying thoughts to other days.
Other days, other hours past the present,
past the now, to the then, the beginning the end.
To that long lost listless world,
‘Another sentiment.’

The Waves
The waves, the waves that crash and spill
that grant no will, as God grants not
‘As God grants not’.
The waves, the waves that cover and drown
around these sorrowed hills - these tired eyes
That God has shut.
The tide is low-it cannot harm.
No harm can come to this pain
no harm can come, to drown this soul
that once has drowned, shall not drown again.
No more the call of seagulls cry-
no more the summer’s youthful sigh.
Just the note, the empty pen
the silent voice, that shall not speak again.
The silent voice that shall not…….
Not be drowned……for once drowned
‘Cannot drown again.’
