Statement Of Faith |
|
It is difficult to
encapsulate the whole system of belief we as a Fellowship subscribe to in
such a limited format. God is not someone who can be limited to words, and articulating
what we believe about the One who is infinite, almighty, all-knowing and
all-powerful is an impossible task. We could use all the words under the sun
and still find we have missed the point as Our Lord is indescribable. |
|
|
|
Therefore this Statement
of Faith is not intended as a creed for the Church, but is simply to show the
essential doctrines upon which we unite in fellowship. (1 Cor. 1:10) |

1.
We Believe that the Bible (i.e. the Old and New Testaments excluding
the Apocrypha) is the inspired Word of God, and is therefore infallible and
the all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. (2 Tim. 3:15-17) 2.
We Believe in the unity of the one true and living God, Who
created all things and Who reveals Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut.
6:4; John 10:30; Matt. 28:19) 3.
We Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ: His virgin birth,
sinless life and His atoning death. We believe in His bodily resurrection
from the grave and ascension into heaven, where He reigns until His second
coming. (We believe the Word of God supports a pre-millennial second advent.)
(Matt. 1:23; 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 4:15; Luke 24:39; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Acts 1:9;
Rev. 19:11 - 20:6) 4.
We Believe that mankind was created pure and upright, but chose
to rebel against God, (this rebellion is called sin). As a result everyone is
guilty of rebellion against God, and will face judgement. (Rom. 5:12) 5.
We Believe that anyone can be saved from that judgement
through repentance, and faith in the Jesus Christ. (John 3:16-18; Acts
16:31-34) 6.
We Believe in holiness of life and conduct in obedience to
the command of God. (1 Pet. 1:14-16) 7.
We Believe that all who have truly repented and believed in
Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour are commanded to be baptised by immersion in
water. (Acts 2:38-39) 8.
We Believe in the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in
all who have repented and believed in Jesus Christ. We also believe in the
experience known as the baptism in the Holy Spirit. This was promised by
Jesus Christ as God’s provision of power for witness and service. (Acts
1:5-8; Acts 2:4) 9.
We Believe the Holy Spirit manifests ministry gifts for the
edification of the Church, and are therefore relevant for today. (1 Cor.
12:4-11) 10.
We Believe that all who have truly repented and believe in
Jesus Christ should participate in the Breaking of Bread. (1 Cor.
11:23-33) 11.
We Believe in the bodily resurrection of all men: the
eternal conscious joy, in the presence of the Lord, of all who truly believe
and the everlasting conscious punishment of all who reject Jesus Christ and
continue to live in rebellion against God. (Dan. 12:2-3; John 5:28-29;
Matt. 25:46; 2 Thess. 1:9; Rev. 20:10-15) |
