What are our meetings like? |
|
There are two meetings during an average week… |
|
Sunday – Morning Worship |
|
The
Sunday morning is an opportunity for the collective worship of God in song,
prayer and the study of His Word. The
meeting is structured, yet informal in style. Both traditional hymns and modern
choruses, accompanied by guitar, are used in the worship, during which
clapping and the raising of hands are often employed. Opportunities for
people to share a testimony, open prayer and intercession are usually made
available, although the particular content of any one meeting differs from
week to week and is determined by the leader. A high emphasis is placed on
the preaching and teaching of God’s word in the meeting and people are
encouraged to bring a Bible so as to benefit fully. Communion is offered for those who wish to participate, although people are exhorted to enter into this soberly with due consideration for their position before God and man before partaking. |
|
Tuesday – Bible Study |
|
Tuesday
meetings are two tiered, with one half devoted to Bible study and
conversation and the other half devoted to prayer and intercession. The
study can take many forms, but is always followed by discussion on the topic
being taught over tea and coffee. In recent times study has been delivered in
the form of a speaker sharing a message, a video or audio message and a
course of study notes worked through in a group. Attendees are actively encouraged to contribute to prayer, with one member being assigned to lead prayer each week. Whoever leads prayer will choose a focus for our intercession that week, be that the needs of a particular organisation, country, missionary group or the persecuted church and then any personal needs will be added. We continue to pray until all petitions have been made. |
