Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI - D118MMJ
When I decided to build a 205 challenge car, almost immediately a 205 GTI popped up for sale on the main road very near my house. The paintwork was appalling and its seats were held together with gaffer tape, but it had tax and test and was only £200. Couldn't say no really. In the end it never made it to be a rally car as the paintwork was going to cost a load to put right, and it only had the 105 rather than 115bhp engine. I found another shell and another engine, but this car proved very valuable for lots of spare parts that were missing or broken between the shell and the engine, and so was an invaluable bargain. Its crossmember was put into use on my 205 GTI road car, and some of the nearly new tyres that were fitted were used by my Dad on his 309, and I eventually sold the engine, gearbox, and rear beam for decent money several years later in Wales. When we had to move house, it had to go so I stripped most of the parts off it that I thought I'd use and it was scrapped along with the Sierra. What my neighbours thought of me at the time I don't know - they no doubt weren't very impressed with all the scrap or near scrap cars I had, but never complained, fair play to them...
