Sweet Lamb Stages - 15th September 2002

Final Result - 5th 205, 3rd Novice (Award)

It took quite some diplomatic skills to get the McRally team to Sweet Lamb stages, what with Rich's wife a week overdue to give birth (finally happened on the 19th), but oh yes it was worth it. A best of season result of 5th 205, and another class award leaves the McRally team closing in on the top of the class tables.

The renowned stages near Aberysthwyth provided huge entertainment and the event ran like clockwork. Although rougher than Swansea places and suffering on occasion from spectator problems, the rally was certainly entertaining and the 205 challenge was as usual ultra-competitive with more than one car decidedly restructured by the end of the first stage.

As with Swansea Bay, punctures played a fair part in the days procedings and this time Rich and Mat had to get their hands dirty between stages. The two punctures gained during the day could have been costly but fortunalty a slow puncture didn't affect their speed too badly and the second incident where a tyre came right off the rim only afected the last two corners of the stage.

At the end Rich said "We're over the moon to have taken another class award, and we're now really challenging the leaders of the novice class." Taking the best four (of five) results so far the McRally team is running 3rd in the Novice class, and with two events still to come it really is all to play for.
