Whilst strictly speaking we only have a couple of ‘real’ ball gowns for hire, one can easily ask that what actually constitutes a ‘ball gown’? Forgetting the dictionary definition for the moment, I think a fair description must be a dress that CAN be WORN as a ball gown and doesn’t look out of place amongst others of the same style. One must also remember that in recent years, several of the larger gown manufacturers have started producing dressy gowns that are very similar patterns to our vintage originals.
Although the majority of our full-length gowns, both vintage and modern are strictly speaking not ball gowns, if one accessorises them up and wear them over a suitably sized crinoline petticoat then the look is most definitely there if you want it. Of course if one then alters the accessories accordingly, other similar looks can easily be achieved with the same garments.
Please find the following images which show a selection of our long dresses in their best ‘full skirted’ look, with a variety of accessories that we can supply to go with them if need be.
