The Punch Bowl - Askham
Just over 12 miles from Maulds Meaburn, on the road towards Tirril, signposted off to the left. There are two pubs in the village, the other being another Queen's Head. I prefer the Punch Bowl. It is an excellent pub for sitting outside in warm weather with a good view of the beautiful, peaceful village of Askham. A good range of beers - I had an excellent pint of Cracker ale (Ambleside Brewery) this Easter, when the photographs were taken
Beers include :- Guinness; Black Sheep Ale; Boddingtons;Stella etc.
The pub had a good reputation for food and was very popular - especially in summer. The seating area to the right of the picture has now been covered. Recently re-opened under new management (2011).
