You speak and read English, and you have access to the internet. You are a creative person, full of curiosity, interested in other people and the significance of life. You are the greatest expert on your own culture and identity, and you have a contribution to make to this site should you be inclined to do so.
Other people will categorise and define you; institutions will label you; scientists will measure you. Whether you resist or collude with the views of others, in exploring your relationship with the world, - people, places, nature, society - you will discover what is important to you. This can only happen in relationship, and therefore requires expression and communication, which is part of the function of artistic endeavour. If you are interested in making this exploration for yourself with a wide range of others, Timbuktu aims to provide a stimulating forum in which to debate and question. What is important to you right now may be a place, a person, a feeling, an action, or some thing else, I don't know. Perhaps it will last a lifetime, or it may change tomorrow. It may concern race, or religion, family, love or war, the World Wide Web or a single leaf. Whatever it is, if you can go to the depths of yourself and express it honestly, you will produce something worthwhile and of interest to others. Timbuktu cannot publish everything, of course, but we will try to give a personal response to every serious piece we receive. Bob Macintosh. stuff
