L i f e D r a w i n g s 1 Method MegÕs life
drawings follow the method of Cecil Collins, as taught by Meriel Gold. CollinsÕ method was designed to free the artist from the tight control
demanded by the need to produce `resultsÕ, and also to allow the model
greater freedom of expression.
Both hands are used to draw simultaneously, holding different colours
or instruments. No preconceived
poses are set up; instead the model moves to music, and when interesting
poses manifest themselves, the artist(s) request a `stopÕ. Such poses can
generally only be held for a few minutes, though they are not necessarily
`movingÕ poses. To read MegÕs talk on lifedrawing, click
