About the image content: the four figures are Himmelfarb (the Jew who escaped the gas chambers), Mary Hare (the eccentric nature-lover), Mrs Godbold (the laundress with many children), Dubbo (the aborigine painter), who is the only rider to `see’ the complete picture before he dies – prematurely – of TB.  Other elements include: the aboriginal rainbow snake and other motifs from aboriginal art (dream-circles, figures and animals), a horse and chariot wheels with stave borrowed from Kandinsky
