This index lists all the benefice names recorded in the Bishop's
Registers of Hereford Diocese from 1275 to 1900. The list has been
augmented by adding the list of prebends and their documented
aliases, together with the type of living (where applicable) and the
relevant Archdeaconry and Deanery as documented in Fasti Herefordenses
(1889), the dedication of the church (where known), and the county in
which a parish resided. The cross references (Xref and Aka) provide
links between spellings used by the scribe at the time and the current
(correct ?) spelling. There are still some unknowns denoted by ? which
are yet to be resolved.
