Test yourself in microelectronics & science.
I have now found an alternative hosting service. It is with Education Software Limited providers of school administration and website software: including reports, registration, progress checks, behaviour for learning, etc.
If this site does not redirect to the new host within a few second, please click here.
Please support this site by checking out their website for their excellent admin packages.
These pages contain programs I am developing in HTML and javascript to consolidate skills in science - Chemistry(up to GCSE), Physics(GCSE, A-level & medical), electronics(up to A-level) and Biology(up to GCSE). They include calculations and writing and balancing chemical equations. They use 'Drag and Drop' (DnD) techniques, show/hide sections, and DOM.
Any ideas/suggestions, please email me. The list of areas covered is above (mouseover to expand the lists). Programs are initially written for MSIE6. To check compatibility with other browsers: click here. The site is for students and teachers alike.
Apologies!
This website is hosted free by dotTK.
I had disabled their ads. I am only allowed to disable ads provided the traffic is low.
Due to a recent excellent article in Electronics Education (Summer 2007) site traffic has increased dramatically and ads have reappeared.
I have complained about the nature of some of these ads but, so far, have had no response.
To access the website without going through dotTK go to
http://testyourself.dnsalias.com/
In IE7: middle click on any menu item to open in new tab with the full address.

Adverts- Other
This website takes a fair bit of time to keep running. To help support the website: if you would normally use any of the advertisers opposite, please click via this site. The price to you is the same and a small commission goes to help out. Thank-you.
Click and drag the ad for a short-cut on your desktop.
Pop-ups
Many programs have 'help' pop-ups. To benefit, you need to allow pop-ups. They may show the equation given in the specification or give some other help.
There are no ads on the calculation pages. So no ads should popup, or, popunder.
The pop-ups close as soon as they lose focus. Two reasons: to encourage you, the student, to keep the idea in your head and, also, new pages would appear in these small windows.
Browsers
Programs are initially written for MSIE6 set to 'Medium' Text-Size. To check compatibility with other browsers: click here. Programs using DnD are most difficult to get compatible with other browsers, including IE7. If you want to use a particular program and are finding difficulties with your browser, please let me know and I will try to help. I don't have access to Mac or Apple computers so am unable to check compatibility.
Disclaimer
I try to ensure programs are fully functional in IE6.
Most are then tested in other browsers. However, programs are occasionally updated in IE6 to take advantage of improved techniques. I do not always have time to check these changes in other browsers.
Teachers Please check any program before using it with a class especially if you are using another browser as programs are subject to alterations in script which may affect working in other browsers. Programs using DnD are particularly at risk here!
Cookies:
To benefit from the 'Personal Best Score' (PBS) programs you need to enable cookies.
Javascript
All programs use javascript for the calculations. To use the programs at all, javascript must be enabled.
Screen Resolution:
Best viewed at as high a resolution as possible. Minimum 1024 x 768 advised. 800 x 600 is usually inadequate.
Full screen (press <F11>) is useful. (press <F11> to exit).
