As has now become
traditional, we spent the first day of our hiking holiday climbing the
highest mountain in the area. In this case it was Pen Y Fan, (although it
only just qualifies as mountain). The first three pictures show the view
from part way up. The fourth is a view from the top. Then, Kate sets off
down the other side, past a man mending the path. Finally the little lake
that was just beside Kate's head. Pen Y Fan is the peak on the left.

The following day we took it
a little easier, by following the local canal footpath for a walk.
Naturally, it was a little flatter. The canal was built years ago because
the River Usk (left) was a little too, wide, shallow and rocky for boats,
so they built a canal (almost) alongside. These days, this not only brings
in tourism (centre) but provides some lovely scenery, such as the aqueduct
(right) as the canal crosses the river.

Another day was spent
wandering amongst waterfalls.

We decided to spend one day
making the trip North to climb Snowden (the highest point in Wales). The
first picture shows Snowden from the car park, and the next shows a view
from about half way up, followed by the stream that we would cool our feet
in as we came down. The other three are views from the top.

| Yet another day looking at
waterfalls. The picture in the middle shows Kate standing inside the waterfall
on the left. An amazing experience. As it had not rained for two weeks, I
don't know where the water was coming from, and I guess that after it has
rained that these waterfalls can be even more spectacular. |
