Dolphins Where
Are You 2 The
Remix 2009
One day I was
dusting the keyboard and I
sat down and played three notes C E G they seemed to say
"Where Are
You" as I live in Cornwall
my thoughts turned to the Sea and Dolphins.
I got to thinking that we are all
looking for something, or someone, sometime. I tinkered about found a
style that
seemed to work got to grips with an early version of Cakewalk and this
is what
came out.
Since owning the Cvp
405 I felt it would be nice to take advantage of
its Voices and Arranger features
to re work this one.
I did not want to loose any of the mood, or my feelings at the time
when I done
original.
So I have limited myself to adding an extra Pan Pipe track, some
choral tracks, re-voicing all tracks to
the Cvp panel voices and completely
remixing and balance and pan to blend.
Apart from correcting a few bum notes here and there, the actual
composition is
basically the same.
Just that this arrangement / mix, is a little more detailed and varied
in its
construction.
So this is actually version 2 The Re mix.
Music means different things, to different people, to me it is
Dolphins and
Whales searching for each other in the bay.
This song is dedicated
to my late wife Jan and her love of life.

Journey Through
Springtime
This
composition is more in truth a compilation of musical phrases and bits
of
melody that were floating
around in the back of my mind, and seemed to remind
me of spring time. And yes I even pinched a few
bars from the classics.
As I said
once before music means different thing to different people depending
on their
experiences in life
and their current state of mind.
To me this
is a journey through springtime in woodland. From the first bursting of
the
buds on the trees,
on through the blossom time, to the final popping up of
bluebells in late spring,
and the arrival of our summer birds.
Hope you
enjoy my simple music.
Now
the
technical stuff.
My DGX 620
only had 32 note polyphony so I had to keep this in mind when using
pads and
Multi
tracking. Apart from which as the keyboard had a very limited 5 track
song
recorder and did not lend
itself to any serious midi editing
I had to do a lot of my
work in Cakewalk Sona.
So any
extra SF effects etc that your hear were added this way
The final
recording is done in Audacity.

Circles In The Corn.
Now For Something
Completely Different
If you ever played in a cornfield as a child you may remember a
slightly uneasy
feeling although it was fun,
to me there was something a little bit scary,
maybe it was just that the corn was so high and we were so
small and shouldn’t
have been there anyway.
So based on some of my darker childhood memories and many reports in
the press
over the years, of
mysterious corn circles that appear over night. I have
tried to put my thoughts into a sort of
musical daydream.
The late afternoon sun glints on the cornfield children dance in
circles in the
corn until it time to go home
for super.
Birds sing their last evening song and
calm settles over the land.
As dusk turns to darkness a new sound comes from the corn, and
something or
someone else circles the
corn, and dance through the night as if to imitate the
children.
Early morning light brings back the birdsong and the cornfield begins
to slowly
wind its way back to normal.
The children return to dance and sing. And everything seems
the same ….
But maybe not quite…
(We are not alone)

King
Arthur The Epilogue
First
I
apologise
to any ardent Rick
Wakeman fans out there.
This is
not in any way supposed to be my
version of his work, more a question of
inspired by.
Ever since hearing the album Myths And
Legends of King Arthur by Rick way back in
1975 (I think)
Two
melodic phrases have haunted me,
every time I see Tintagle
Castle,
or walk
below Glastonbury
Tower,
with the low
mist swirling
beneath my feet;
they play back in my brain.
So
I post
this more as an epilogue to
the story of King
Arthur.
|
|
The
last
battle has been fought and King Arthur is dead .The battle field is
silent
apart from the wind and the rain the soft cry of buzzards overhead.
From the
valley below Glastonbury Tower
drifts the sound of
monks bemoaning Arthur’s
fate.
And in the
end there is nothing but the
wind and a lone
church bell.
Techi
Stuff
Struggling
once
more to stay within the 32 note
polyphony of the Dgx 620 not always successful, as at some points
polyphony reaches
64 +
according to my
Xg 50 Soft synth. So
as a result some sustained notes get cut off
earlier than I would have liked.
Multi
tracked on the Dgx Internal Sequencer and in Cakewalk Sona to add sound
effects
etc.
Narration
added live in Audacity during final transfer.
May not be
every ones cup of tea but it was a ghost that I had to exorcise.
