MILTON ABBEY MUSIC FESTIVAL

ABOUT US
Based at the Benedictine Abbey church of Milton Abbey,
Milton Abbas, near Blandford in the beautiful countryside of
of rural Dorset, the Milton Abbey Music and Arts Festival
has been running for almost thirty years. From 2001 to 2004
we held concerts in Sherborne Abbey as well and, in recent
years, there has also been a choral concert in St. Mary’s
Church in the county town of Dorchester

We aim to present church music in its appropriate liturgical
setting and, in addition to the church services we have, over the
years, performed most of the popular choral masterpieces as
well as lesser-known works.

The Music Festival is held during the weekend of the late summer
bank holiday and in 2009 will include a choral/orchestral
concert in Milton Abbey on Sunday 30th August, an organ recital
in the Abbey, followed by the office of Compline, on Friday 28th
August. Other services are at Milton Abbey and the nearby
St. Catherine’s Chapel. In 2009 we are pleased to welcome the
musical entertainment “Beyond the Stave” to the Theatre of Milton
Abbey School on Saturday 29th August.
