Welcome to the web pages of the Milton Keynes Amateur
Radio Society
Our radio club is run for the enjoyment
of our hobby. Based at the famous Bletchley Park, membership includes newcomers as well as more established
members who are prepared to share their wide range of experience in all
aspects of the hobby. We are a friendly club who will make you feel
welcome whether you call in for specific information or just to meet up
for a general chat. We pride ourselves on the excellent training
facilities and success. For more information please take a look at our other
pages.
Feel free to visit us on a club night or at the
events detailed in these web pages. Please note due to on site security
please contact us first so we can ensure the necessary pass is available for
your admittance, see contact details below.
MKARS 50th anniversary year.

To
celebrate we are running a special event station at the Milton Keynes Museum see
www.mkmuseum.org.uk in Wolverton on 6th
and 7th September 2008 using the call sign GB5OMK.
Visitors are very welcome but please note
there is the usual entry charge to the museum for non MKARS members. For further
information please contact information@mkars.org.uk.
Colossus challenge, another MKARS success!
The target messages enciphered with a Lorenz S42 machine
as used by the German high command were transmitted
by a team of radio enthusiasts in Paderborn Germany.
Radio
reception problems throughout the day on Thursday meant that the British code
cracking team did not get a full copy of the enciphered message until after 1700
GMT. "For that all credit must go to the Milton Keynes Amateur Radio Society"
said Mr. Andy Clark, one of the founders of the Trust for the National
Museum of Computing, "They worked tirelessly to produce a full copy of
the enciphered message" A copy of the cipher text was loaded on to the
re-built Colossus at 0855 GMT Friday.
Club construction project kit now
available
Significant
interest has been shown in the construction of Pic A Star transceivers (see
Pic A Star pages) by members of the MKARS, but for
most the Pic-A-Star is either too complex or too expensive project to take on.
The MKARS 80 was designed by club member Steve G6ALU for those who would like to build and
use the radio they constructed themselves. More>>
First batch of kits went out of stock
very quickly but we are pleased to advise the second batch are now available.
We are now able to offer kits to non members please contact Steve G6ALU by
e-mail g6alu@tiscali.co.uk for details.
