WENDOVER COMMUNITY CAR APPEAL

The Wendover Action Group has been providing a Community Transport service to Wendover and the surrounding area since 1996. It has become a vital support to substantial numbers of Wendover residents who are unable to use or have easy access to other means of transport.

Our users include mainly the elderly, those confined to wheel chairs and those needing to use a lift to get into our vehicle. For some it extends their independence, for many it has become a lifeline to enable them to be involved in activities outside the limits of their homes for social and recreational purposes. To all it contributes towards their quality of life.

Apart from a paid part-time Coordinator, all the drivers and Management Committee members are volunteers from local communities. Funding for running the service is from contributions made by the users and donations resulting from public appeals. Unfortunately the reserves resulting from earlier appeals are being eroded.

In order to continue the service, excluding the replacement of the vehicle, we need an income of £3,000 per annum above that contributed by voluntary donations by the users.
