Local Clubs and Societies

Moreton Morrell supports several active local clubs and societies. Some of the groups support email 'lists' which enables members to keep in regular email contact with each other about forthcoming events. Additional information about forthcoming events within the village is posted via the Diary of Events webpage. Announcements of events hosted by local clubs and societies also appear in the MidFosse Parishes magazine, The Villager magazine, in local newspapers, and on Moreton Morrell's notice boards.

To advertise local clubs or societies on this webpage please send an email with details of the group to: events[at]moretonmorrell[dot]org[dot]uk

MM Book Club: The Moreton Morrell Book Club meets monthly to discuss recommended books enjoyed by the groups members. The format is informal and friendly, with the venue varying though typically based within the village itself. Book choices for the following meeting are typically announced at the end of each meeting.

MM Guitar Group: The Moreton Morrell Guitar Group meets monthly to play music and learn from each other. The format is friendly and informal and welcomes persons ranging from the complete novice to the experienced player. The range of interest in music covers modern, jazz, folk and classical, and while centred on the guitar we welcome players of other instruments. We meet on the second Friday of the month at the Black Horse Inn, starting around 7:30pm.

MM Parent and Toddler Group: We meet every week during term time only on MONDAYS in the Village Hall, from 9.30am until 11am. All pre-school aged children and their carers are welcome. The cost of the session is £1.50 for the first child and then 50p for each subsequent child from the same family. A drink and healthy snack is provided for the children and tea/coffee is included for the adults.

MM Village Whist Drive: We meet once a month in the Village Hall, on the second Wednesday of the month. Please note that we now start at 7.45pm but are still able to finish before 10pm. We charge £2 per session which includes tea or coffee and biscuits and a raffle ticket. Why not give us a try!! All proceeds to Village Hall funds. FDurther deatils from Irene on 651304 or see the Notice Board.

MM Women's Group: As you probably read in the Parish magazine, the Women's Group has now finished meeting on a monthly basis. Having said that, we may occasionally have an open meeting for anyone in the village to attend, for example, we're having a Pancake Cooking and Eating (of course!) on Shrove Tuesday 20th Feb at 8pm. So we're still open to suggestions and will hold events from time to time. Watch this space and the village notice board.

MM Village: Anyone resident within the Parish of Moreton Morrell (or those now living outside the village but still wishing to keep in email contact with persons in the village, village activities and events) is eligible to join the main village email list. This list (and other email lists individually listed below) has been set up via YahooGroups as a private list, and is therefore not accessible to anyone outside the specified group. The MM Village list is the main forum for a quick turnaround of notification of events, requests for help, small ads (wanted and for sale), that is not covered by the website itself. To join the list please contact: mm_village[at]yahoogroups[dot]com, or contact a member of the village commitee with a current email address.

Moreton Morrell Tennis Court Club: Moreton Morrell has its own Real Tennis Court! In 1905, an American, Charles Tuller Garland, built a Real Tennis Court at Moreton Morrell in Warwickshire. The Club celebrated its Centenary in 2005. For more information, see: Moreton Morrell Tennis Court Club.

Ashorne and Morrell Morrell Cricket Club: Ashorne & Moreton Morrell Cricket Club is situated within the village of Ashorne, just a few miles from the towns of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa. The club runs two teams each weekend during the summer, playing league cricket on Saturdays in the 3D Cotswold-Hills-League and friendly local matches on a Sunday. For more information, see: Ashorne and Morrell Morrell Cricket Club.
