The RAY family came from Bootle Village, an area bounded by Marsh Lane, Stanley Rd, Merton Rd and Hawthorne Rd. The Village has been partly rebuilt in recent years and is only a shadow of what it must have been.

Annie Ray was the eldest daughter of Robert Ray and Sarah Ann Roberts.
